I have been sending home a lot of permission slips to parents though out this last semester for students to be in a group with me. Group consist of 4 or 5 students who are working on a common goal together. We meet during lunch or recess so students don't have to miss much recess time.
Currently we have groups for the following
Self-Esteem
Girls Group (we have a third grade and a fourth grade where we focus on bullying behaviors)
Focus (we have a third grade and a fourth grade group)
Friends groups (all grades)
Anger Management
Study Skills
Positive Choices
Kids really want to be a part of these group, which is great because they can support each other. Unfortunately I am not able to put everyone in a group who asks because there is a high demand for the groups.
